Fresh remakes of classical songs mix soulful R&B, Pop, and Rap music with familiar melodies from an 18th-century opera. Voices of Carmen is a vibrant new take on Georges Bizet’s Carmen. New lyrics, arrangements, and songs by CJay and Winston Philip feature Baltimore-area teens who bring their own energy and style to this annual cast album. Each year, young artists audition for coveted spots in this musical production that doubles as an on-the-job training program for aspiring performers and theater-makers.
